Boys LAX Overview

URA Boys Lacrosse Spring 2011

URA Boys’ Lacrosse is an established youth lacrosse program open to student athletes residing in the Unionville Chadds Ford school district only. Our mission is to provide a safe and competitive environment in which participants are instructed in the fundamental skills necessary to blossom as a complete lacrosse player.

URA Boys’ Lacrosse is a member of the Chester Country Lacrosse Association. We generally practice at C.F Patton Middle School on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Practice will begin in early March on weekends only and post daylight savings we start our 3 day practice regiment. Below please find some general information regarding each group:

U9...birth years 2002, '03, '04 & ‘05

This age group offers fundamental instruction with limited contact for those new to lacrosse and players with a year or more of experience. Our goal is to introduce lacrosse skills and simulated game situations. Players are separated by one or more of the following: age, grade, size and experience. Each player/parent must provide their own equipment including a stick, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves and a helmet. League rules permit the use of hockey helmet for U9 players. URA will supply each player with a mouth guard, shorts and jersey. Started pads (gloves, shoulder and arm pads) can be purchased at Dick’s, Sports Authority, Kelly’s and Lacrosse International in Downingtown for about $80.00. Game play will be in-house with a few games scheduled against other CCLA programs. Additionally, players will be given an opportunity to participate in a year end tournament in Malvern, Pa.

U11...birth years 2000 & 2001

The U11 program offers fundamental instruction for the new player and intermediate skill development for the experienced player. The U11 group is divided into equal strength teams, per league rules and competes in a 10 game schedule. Additionally, players will be given an opportunity to participate in a year end tournament in Malvern, Pa. Each player/parent must provide their own equipment including a stick, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves and a helmet. League rules permit the use of hockey helmet for U11 players. URA will supply each player with a mouth guard, shorts and jersey. Started pads (gloves, shoulder and arm pads) can be purchased at Dick’s, Sports Authority, Kelly’s and Lacrosse International in Downingtown for about $80.00.

U13...birth years 1998 & '99 / U15...birth years 1996 & '97

The U13 and 15 programs offer both fundamental instruction for the new player and advanced skill development for the experienced player. Our mission is to prepare players for middle school teams and/or travel team programs. Dependent on the number of players, teams are divided into A, B & C level teams and compete in a 10 game CCLA schedule with playoffs. Additionally, players will be given an opportunity to participate in various year end tournaments.

Each player/parent must provide their own equipment including a stick, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves and a helmet. League rules require the use of lacrosse helmet for all U13 & U15 players. URA will supply each player with a mouth guard, shorts and jersey.
